Major Update

 A lot has happened since I last posted in June.  My daughter received her mission call, half my family got really sick, etc., etc.  I skipped about 3 weeks of exercise and walking and haven't recorded anything but steps for the last little while.  I got a chance today to add up those total steps and the mileage they equaled and I was shocked to see the number of temples I have virtually walked to during the summer months.  In fact, I had set a goal to virtually walk to all the temples in central Utah in the Fall, and I have just about met that goal and it isn't even the end of August!  I just need to make it to the Manti Temple.  That is a lot of steps!!  So here goes:

SARATOGA SPRINGS 21 miles (42,000 steps) This is a new temple that is still in the building phase.

MOUNT TIMPANOGOS 6 miles ( 12,000 steps)  We took our girls when they were little to the open house of this temple and it is where my niece got married.

LINDON 4 miles (8,000 steps)  Another new temple that is just in the planning stages.

OREM 2 miles (2,000 steps) Is a new temple that is in the building stage.

PROVO 4 miles (8,000 steps) This is one of older temples in Utah that I have never been to but will be seeing up close and personal in October as it is next to the MTC where we will be dropping our missionary daughter off at.

PROVO CITY CENTER 1 mile ( 2,000 steps) This temple has special meaning to me because it use to be a tabernacle and then in 2010 the same year I had a stillborn baby, it burned in a fire.  I felt like this building and I have gone through the some healing processes together.  It is also one of the last places that we went to with my Dad before he died.

PAYSON 17 miles ( 34,000 steps) and last but not least the Payson Temple that has been open since 2015.  We went to the temple open house for this temple.

 

Walked Virtually to the Taylorsville Temple

 The Taylorsville Temple is still in the construction process so technically it isn't really available to go to yet, but, you can walk to the construction site.  This temple sits on a road that I use to drive on when I worked at SLCC.  It will be the first temple in the Salt Lake Valley that does not have an angel Moroni on it.  This is my last individual temple I will be virtually walking to in the Salt Lake Valley.  The next ones are in groups.

9 Miles (18,000 Steps)

Walked virtually to the Draper Temple

 15 miles (30,000 steps)  The Draper Temple is where my 1st married child got married.  It isn't as convenient to get to as the Jordan River and Oquirrh Mountain Temples so I don't visit it hardly at all.  It has a very pretty view from the hill top it is built on.

1st Week Walking

 For my 1st week walking I was able to virtually reach the Oquirrh Mountain Temple and the Jordan River Temple.  Both of these temples have significant impacts in my life.

First the Oquirrh Mountain Temple is the closest temple to our home being only 4 miles (8,000 steps) away.  In 2016 my family actually did practice walks for 9 months and we actually walked from our house to this temple.  We got to watch it be built and helped with the temple open house and 2 of my kids were in the temple celebration program for when it opened.  It is the temple I go to most often.  During the pandemic when all the temples closed we would go and sit in the parking lot of this temple just to find some peace amidst all the craziness in the world.  They just barely opened this temple to phase 3 today, but, even that is still not normal and I still can't go to the temple yet because it is all booked out.  It makes me sad.

The Jordan River Temple is 6 miles (12,000) steps from my home.  This temple was built in the 1980's and I remember as a kid donating my pennys in primary to help pay for it.  When it was dedicated I got to be in one of sealing rooms and this is the temple I got married in.

 I should have started this blog 9 months ago when I decided to virtual walk to Disneyland as my exercise program.  I plotted the course and then everyday wrote down how many steps I did.  I tried to average about 6,000 steps 5 days a week.  At the end of the week I wrote down my mileage and plotted it on a map.  I started in October of 2020 and finished a week before my 50th birthday in May of 2021.  It really kept me motivated and excited about exercising.  Except I really hated wearing my step counter and keeping track of my steps so I was glad to be done with it.  1 month out and I'm discovering that I really have lost my motivation to exercise now that I completed my goal!   So I decided a new goal was in order.  For the next little while I'm going to walk virtually to all the Temples in Utah.  

This was my Disneyland Log.  I bought myself a Disneyland shirt and the movie Raya as a reward!
